HAV-IgM Hormone Test Kit – ENZO
The ENZO HAV-IgM Hormone Test Kit is a qualitative enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for the detection of hepatitis A virus (HAV) IgM antibodies in human serum or plasma. The kit is intended for in vitro diagnostic use.
HAV IgM antibodies are produced by the body in response to infection with HAV. They are typically detectable within 1-2 weeks of exposure to HAV and can persist for up to 6 months. A positive HAV IgM test result indicates that the person is in the acute phase of HAV infection.
The ENZO HAV-IgM Hormone Test Kit is a sensitive and specific assay for the detection of HAV IgM antibodies. It is based on the principle of sandwich ELISA. The kit contains two microplates coated with anti-HAV IgM antibodies. The first microplate is used to capture HAV IgM antibodies from the sample. The second microplate is used to detect the captured HAV IgM antibodies with a biotinylated anti-HAV IgM antibody and a streptavidin-horseradish peroxidase conjugate. The reaction is visualized with a tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) substrate. The presence of HAV IgM antibodies is indicated by the development of a blue color.
The ENZO HAV-IgM Hormone Test Kit is a valuable tool for the diagnosis of acute HAV infection. It can be used to identify people who are in the early stages of HAV infection and who are at risk of transmitting the virus to others.
The kit contains all of the reagents necessary to perform the test, including microplates, antibodies, conjugates, and substrates. The test procedure is simple and can be completed in approximately 2 hours. The kit is also relatively inexpensive, making it accessible to a wide range of laboratories.
Clinical significance of HAV-IgM positive:
A positive HAV-IgM test result indicates that the person is in the acute phase of HAV infection. This means that the person is contagious to others.
When to order an HAV-IgM test:
An HAV-IgM test is typically ordered for people who have symptoms of acute HAV infection, such as jaundice, fatigue, and abdominal pain. It is also ordered for people who have been exposed to HAV, such as through contact with an infected person or contaminated food or water.
How to interpret an HAV-IgM test result:
A positive HAV-IgM test result indicates that the person is in the acute phase of HAV infection.
A negative HAV-IgM test result indicates that the person is not in the acute phase of HAV infection or that the person has been infected with HAV but has not yet developed an immune response to the virus.
If a person has a negative HAV-IgM test result, they should be tested for the presence of HAV total antibodies, which can indicate past infection or immunity.
