17 – β – Estradiol (E2) Rapid Test Device – Apoti POCT Analyzer
17-β-estradiol (E2) is the most potent form of estrogen in humans. It is produced by the ovaries in women and the testes in men. E2 is responsible for the development and maintenance of the female reproductive system, including the breasts, uterus, and ovaries. It also plays a role in regulating the menstrual cycle, bone health, and sexual function.
E2 levels fluctuate throughout the menstrual cycle. They are highest during the follicular phase, when the ovaries are preparing to release an egg. E2 levels then decline during the luteal phase, when the egg is released and the body prepares for pregnancy. After menopause, E2 levels decline significantly.
E2 levels can also be affected by a number of factors, including age, pregnancy, and certain medical conditions. For example, women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) often have high levels of E2.
A blood test can be used to measure E2 levels. The results of this test can be used to diagnose and monitor a variety of conditions, including:
- Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
- Menopause
- Infertility
- Estrogen-dependent cancers
If you are concerned about your E2 levels, you should talk to your doctor. They can order a blood test and discuss the results with you.
Here are some of the normal ranges of E2 levels in women:
- Follicular phase: 50-400 pg/mL
- Luteal phase: 100-400 pg/mL
- Postmenopausal: <30 pg/mL
The normal ranges of E2 levels in men are much lower than in women. The normal range for men is 10-40 pg/mL.
If your E2 levels are outside of the normal range, it does not necessarily mean that you have a medical condition. However, it is important to talk to your doctor to rule out any underlying problems.
